Born in New Orleans, LA, Master Irvin’s Martial Arts training began in 1972 at Southern Black Belt Academy in New Orleans. His instructor, a Korean native, trained him intensely, often 6 days a week for months at time.
Master Irvin received his 1st-degree Black Belt in the fall of 1974 from the academy where he began his training. Later that year, he joined the U.S. Army where he furthered his Martial Arts pursuits. He often trained with the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, where he was introduced to Martial Arts weapons training, becoming an expert with the Bo and Nunchaku.
Master Irvin’s extended Bio
Master Irvin has served as a Combative Arts Instructor for the U.S. Army Military Police units at a host of military installations, both in the United States and overseas. He climbed up through the ranks quickly, and soon became Major Irvin. During his illustrious military career, he taught Martial Arts at private dojos, Church events, and Universities. He also taught many in his 1 on 1 private lessons.
Following his military retirement in the Spring of 1995, he directed his efforts towards turning his long-time dream into reality. This dream came to fruition when he resigned from his 8 year position as a Martial Arts/Self Defense at L.S.U. -Shreveport, and opened his first dojo in August of 2005. Properly named, “Master Irvin’s House of Discipline” is one of the premier Martial Arts schools in the Bossier Parrish. The students enjoy the classes and learning skills that can be used throughout their lives. Master Irvin’s accepts students ranging from ages 4 to 84, no one is to young or old to learn life changing techniques. Master and his fellow Instructors aim to instill nothing but greatness in ALL of their students and make them feel at home in the dojo. Welcome to Master Irvin’s House.. Mr. Danny T. Howard is a retired U.S. Army Combat Veteran of 27 years. He has being teaching combative arts to fellow troops, who also include the U.S. Army’s Elite Special Forces. The hand to hand training for Combatives include Krav Maga, Filipino Knife Fighting, Boxing, and Ju-jitsu. Mr. Howard has put his training skills to work for 11 years and has a strong passion for teaching. He is a true professional, a gifted Instructor, and a welcomed addition to Master Irvin’s House of Discipline. Come in to the school and begin your training today!
